Core Update ServicesWindows Update ServiceThe primary service responsible for checking, downloading, and installing Windows updates. Windows Update Medic ServiceA protection service that can attempt to restore Windows Update components when they are disabled. Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)A Windows service that transfers files in the background and is often used for update downloads. Delivery OptimizationA feature that helps distribute update content using peer-to-peer methods to reduce bandwidth usage. WUB ControlsDisable UpdatesTurns off update-related services to pause automatic updates and background downloads. Enable UpdatesReactivates update services when you are ready to patch the system. Service ProtectionLocks the selected service state so Windows cannot silently re-enable updates. Portable UtilityA tool that runs without installation and leaves minimal footprint on the system.
